International Festival of Opera Music "Breath of Baikal" May 9-13, 2019
The main goal of the festival is to popularize opera music, to support young vocalists.
Every year, Irkutsk residents and guests of our city will have a bright and interesting festival program. As a rule, four concerts with the participation of stellar guests. Gala-concert Opening of the festival, concert performance of the opera, chamber music concert and Gala-concert Closing of the festival.
The guests of the festival were the soloists of the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Center. Together with the Governor’s Orchestra, the operas were performed by N. Rimsky-Korsakov “The Tsar’s Bride” and M. Glinka’s “Ruslan and Lyudmila”.
Irkutsk students are always warmly welcome and countrymen, Irkutsk vocalists. Geyrat Shabanov, Svetlana Lunyushkina, Maria Toscheva, Ekaterina Pereverzeva more than once took part in concerts of the festival of different years.

During the festival days, famous vocal teachers hold their master classes for everyone. For Irkutsk vocalists this is a great opportunity to get valuable advice without leaving your hometown. Over the years, master classes were given by Irina Gabrilovichi, Professor of the Vienna and Helsinki Academies, and Oliver Milakovich, Professor of the Vienna and Tokyo Academies of Music, Assistant Professor (VAK) of the Department of Academic Singing of the Krasnoyarsk State Academy of Music and Theater Vera Baranova, and Head of the Opera Company of the New Opera Theater Edward Treskin (Moscow).
